MORNING DEVOTION

M ORNING PRAYER With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness. From: Isaiah 26:9 INSPIRATION Our desires should move to focusing on God and his goodness. God's love pours out on us every second, and when we realize this, it stirs up a hunger within us to know him more. This is why Isaiah could cry out the way he did- he had an idea of God's goodness. But we, who are in Christ know, have an even better understanding of the goodness of the Lord, and this should move us to want more of him in our lives. PRAYER Dear God, I desire to know and have more of you in my life. There is nowhere else where I can find your goodness, your love, and your faithfulness. I pray that all those who have not come to the knowledge of your goodness, Lord, will be able to receive the revelation too. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. From: Revelation 7:17 INSPIRATION Weeping may last for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5) God's children may have sorrow and tribulation in this world for what, in the light of eternity, will be but a brief moment, but they will find everlasting joy. Heaven will be a place without tears. PRAYER O Comforter of our souls, you are he who will wipe away all tears from our eyes. We may weep here for lost loved ones, but we will meet them again if they died in Christ. We may weep now for pain and misery that come upon us, but it will all pass away. We may feel sorrow for a host of things on earth, but in Heaven, we will find only joy. O prepare us for that place and let our eternal hope make present troubles easier to bear. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. From: Romans 7:6 INSPIRATION The Law of God is good, perfect and righteous altogether. But du to the inability of man to keep it its judgment becomes as a curse To try to follow the Law externall with an unrenewed spirit wil prove futile and worthless in th end. But to serve God in newnes of spirit will yield joy of soul an eternal glory to God. PRAYER O Renewer of spirits, you alone can make us to keep your Law not merely in "the letter" but from the heart with "newness of spirit. You are the Potter, we but the clay. Use us for your glory, fill us with your love, and cause us to overflow with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end. He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions. From: Daniel 6:26-27 INSPIRATION God's miraculous deliverance o Daniel from the lions in the lions den where he had been cast fo worshipping the true God opene Nebuchadnezzar's eyes to whos God was God. And he even issued  decree that all men in his vas kingdom give homage to the Go of Daniel. Daniel's faith and refusa to cease his regular daily devotion had resulted in the knowledge o God being spread throughout th land. PRAYER Let us not, O Lord, underestimate what you can do in us and through us. We do not know all of your purposes for us, but we know that nothing is too hard

MORNING PRAYER But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. From: Galatians 6:14 INSPIRATION When we come to love the Lor Jesus Christ in truth, we becom dead to the world and the worl dead to us. The ways of the worl no longer attract us, in our heart o hearts and new nature, at least and the world has no love for wha we are: Christ followers. PRAYER Lord Jesus, your cross brings division in the world, between those who would follow you and those who run still after the world, the flesh, and the Devil. Crucify our carnal, sinful desires, taking out the stony heart and putting in its place a heart of flesh, sensitive to your leading. Let us say, "I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, "regardless of how the world may react. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? From: Romans 6:3 INSPIRATION The ritual of baptism symbolizes the dying to sin and the rising again in newness of life to serve our God. But as we are "in Christ, " who died to put away our sins once and for all and then rose in glorious and eternal victdory, we can be said to "die and rise with Him, " PRAYER Help us, O Lord, to regard ourselves as dead to sin and to actively crucify our sinful lusts each and every day. It is not fitting that we who have died to sin should walk any longer therein. Change our attitudes and our values. Help us reorder our priorities so that we always put holiness ahead of convenience and your glory ahead of our own pleasure. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. From: 1 Thessalonians 5:23 INSPIRATION Paul here tells the Thessalonians believers that their whole persons and, thus, their whole lives must be made holy before God. Their spirits, that is, the higher nature in man (his mind and that which relates to God); their souls, that is, their lower natures (emotions and the mind's connection to physical senses and desires); and even their bodies, though purely physical and mere "tents" that their immaterial part live in, must all be sanctified. PRAYER O Lord, there is no aspect of our inner self that should not be subject to your standards of holiness. Our minds, hearts, wills, consciences, desires, and even physical bodies must all bow to your Lordship. We must give an account of all we did in the body to you before the Judgment seat of Christ. Let us

MORNING PRAYER: And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; From: 1 Thessalonians 5:12 INSPIRATION: If God has given us godly leaders to watch over our souls and to help us in our Christian walk, we should be thankful to God for that. We should be willing to give help to support them in their ministry, both because we have benefited from it and because we want others to benefit from it as well. PRAYER: O Lord, let us give honor to whom honor is due. Let us befriend and assist your servants, seeing it as a great opportunity to show thankfulness to you. By taking other burdens off their shoulders, |let us open up more timne for your pastors and preachers to prayerfully study your Word and focus on preaching it faithfully. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER: But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. From: Deuteronomy 4:29 Inspiration: God warned Israel through Moses that they would be scattered among the nations, taken far away from the land of promise, if they rose up in rebellion against Jehovah and served other gods. But God also gave them the promise that, if they would truly seek him with all their heart, even from the very ends of the earth, He would hear and forgive and bring them back again to their land. PRAYER: o hearer of the prayers of the penitant, we know that you are always found of those who seek you, if they truly seek you with all of their heart. We know there is no depth of sin you cannot rescue us from and no dismal condition of life that you cannot save us out of. Let us always call on you early, fervently, and truly, no matter what is in our past or where we are today. Amen.

MORNING PRAYER From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. From: Ephesians 4:16 INSPIRATION The Church of God is compared to a human body, having many parts that all work together for a common purpose and are all under the control of the same head, that is, of Christ. All members of this spiritual body ought edify each other out of genuine love. That means being a positive influence by promoting that which serves to build us up in Christ, and doing it out of love for those we minister to. PRAYER O Head of the Church, which is your body, use each one of us, we pray, to edify one another. You would have us love one another; and if we truly love you, we know we will also you our brothers and sisters in Christ. Give us wisdom to know how to help each other to live more consistently for you. Amen.

Morning Prayer For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: From: 1 Thessalonians 4:3 Inspiration Many times, we wonder, "What is God's will for me? " Here, God tells us. It is his will that we be sanctified, meaning "made holy" or"set apart" from the filth and corruption that is in the world through lust. (2 Peter 1:4) And one major area of sanctification Paul mentions, fornication, because it is so prevalent and so degrading. Prayer Lord God, we do not always know what your will is as to each path or decision of life. But we always know that your will is for us to be holy even as you are holy. Sanctify us through your Word, which is truth. (John 17:17) Keep us unspotted from the world in regard to sexual sin and all other sins. Amen.

Morning Prayer For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: From: Romans 3:23-24 Inspiration Most will admit that all are sinners, that no one is perfect. But the problem that often arises in sharing this news is that many men do not see it as a great  problem that they are sinners. But as our sins, Paul tells us, merit the "wages" of death, we see that sin is much mnore serious than most realize. Prayer Lord God, our sins have made a breach between us and you, an gulf or chasm that is too vast for any man to build a bridge over. But your grace, through the blood of the Redeemer, has made a way for us. Teach us to hate our sin more and love you more with each passing day. Amen.

Morning Prayer What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: From:  Romans 3:9-10 INSPIRATION : Should we scour the whole face of the earth and cross all barriers of time to search through all the years of human history, in search of a righteous man, we should find none except for the Man Christ Jesus. Both Jews and Gentiles of every nation are fallen and sunk in sin to the point that there is "none who seeks after God" (verse 11). We cannot trust in the merits of mere men or in our own righteousness to be declared just in the courtroom of God. Prayer God, help us to feel the force of that statement, "There is none righteous, no not one. " Let us not think of it lightly, as if it meant, "No one's perfect, but that's no big problem after all. " Far from it! Our sinful state required the blood of your dear Son b
